Todoist Dependent Tasks

I know you can't technically do dependent tasks in Todoist. I've emailed support asking if this is a feature that will be added, but I haven't heard back. Has anyone found a way to 'hack' Todoist to do something equivalent to this? Please don't tell me to try a new tool. I pay for a Premium account with Todoist and I'm all in on it. Whether the task's sub-tasks are collapsed (where 1 is true and 0 is false). Labels Array of Integer: The task's labels (a list of label IDs such as 2324,2525). Addedbyuid Integer: The ID of the user who created the task. This makes sense for shared projects only. For tasks created before 31 Oct 2019 the value is set to null. You can select multiple tasks by holding down the Shift or Ctrl key in Windows. By using the menu at the top, you can change projects, date and priority. From the More menu, you can also duplicate, archive, delete or change labels (contexts). Todoist tips no 5: Use emojis.

You've set up a Gantt chart of your Todoist project using Ganttify and visualized all the ongoing tasks and events.

Todoist made my life drastically better, it helped me declutter my brain to focus on the important things. Because of Todoist, I was able to read 15 books in 2 months, learn iOS development and spend more time with my family Todoist every day I’ve become more productive than anytime in my life.

One of the power features of a Gantt chart is the ability to set dependencies between tasks so one due date automatically gets postponed of a predecessor is delayed. It can quickly become a tedious job to manually manage all these task due dates, especially when you're working with a team on larger projects.

In Ganttify, you can set dependencies between the time blocks and due dates of your Todoist tasks to make sure everything stays on track, automatically. Here's a short instruction video about how this feature works:

Add dependencies to Todoist tasks

When you open up a Todoist project in Ganttify, you see the 'due dates' and 'time blocks' in your Gantt chart. Each of these rows represents a task from your project. With the dependencies feature, you can simply right-click on each of these items and choose 'Add dependency' from the context menu.

Once you set up your dependencies, you can easily update your Todoist project schedule by dragging a time block or due date left or right in the Gantt chart. If a task gets delayed by moving it in Ganttify, the dependent tasks will automatically reschedule, all the new dates will directly be synchronized to Todoist on all your devices.

Removing dependencies from Todoist tasks

If you need to remove a dependency, you can easily do that as well. All you have to do, like most things in Ganttify, is use the right-mouse click. Right-click on the dependency line you wish to remove and left-click on 'Remove dependency' from the context menu.

Now, you have learned the basics of creating and removing dependencies in Ganttify for Todoist.

Viewing dependencies in Todoist

Since creating and editing dependencies is a feature Ganttify offers as a part of the Gantt charts that are created of your Todoist projects, the dependencies can not be seen inside of Todoist directly, only within the Gantt charts. When dependent tasks get delayed and you wish to share updates with clients outside of your Todoist team, you can use published Gantt charts to share a live timeline of your projects.
